  • Personal DNA report

    Current mood:tired
This is a really fun test to take.  I don't know if I agree with 100% of it, but the results are fun.

That took a lot of energy.....haha.......I'm gonna go take a nap now!
  • OUCH...%&**@$.!!!!!!!

    Current mood:excited
So, we got the house!  Dan and I closed on March 22nd as planned and although there was one possible snag that could have popped up, everything worked out beautifully.  Since the closing we have been full steam ahead with projects.  After much shopping, we picked out our hard wood floors (they are GORGEOUS mahogany) and we have selected the carpet for the 3 bedrooms (It's really great freize carpet) and we are stoked to get it all in.  Hopefully within the next 2-3 weeks everything will be done including painting which we will do this weekend!  Yippee!  Now all we have to do is start packing sometime in the next month.....we are going to stay in our rental probably until the end of April just so we have time to get the projects at the house done and pack.  So, yes.....I am packing AGAIN!  This will be my 8th packing/moving in 6 years....I can not believe that I have to do it again!  At least this will be the last one for a LONG time!
Yesterday we went to the house and pulled all of the carpet up and puttied holes in the walls....we brought the dogs with us so that they could run aroud the back yard and they had a fantastic time!  I know that they are going to love the huge backyard we have for them.  We also met our next door neighbors and although they seem a little more conservative than we are ( I'm not sure if they even drink beer), they are about our age and are really nice.  I think that we will be friends with them......plus they have a dog named Sophie who has already come over and played with Henry and Tyson.......pretty cool!
Okay, so when we arrived at the house, I was getting out of the car (and it's Dan's Dad's Blazer, so I'm not used to it) and I hit my baby toe on the passanger door and pretty much ripped most of the toe nail off of it!  OH MY FREAKING GOSH.....it hurt so bad.  It started bleeding and HURT SO BAD!!!!!  So, now I have a bandage around my baby toe and am limping around unable to wear shoes because IT HURTS SO BAD and praying that the toe nail does not fall completely off because that would be really disgusting.  I can't believe how clumsy I am......and to add insult to injury......I have also pulled/sprained something in my wrist and I swear it's from peeing so much..... (in case you don't know any pregnant ladies, I pee about 7-10 times per day, sometimes more)....all that wiping can't be good for my wrist.  I'm falling apart......but at least I am a homeowner as well!  I guess that's it for now.  I'll update on my toe condition and my pee sprain.
  • The best morning ever

This morning my hubby did the most specialist thing in the world......not only did he let me sleep in and enjoy my beauty sleep, but he brought me breakfast in bed!!!  Hot pancakes with butter and syrup.....juice......it was fabulous!  I can't believe how lucky I am to have found someone as caring and patient as Daniel.  I love you baby!

February 2006

  • Otis Redding

How come all of the best people in the world have to die young?  Is it just in their fate? I feel so sad right now and it's utterly ridiculous.  Otis Redding died in 1967 at the age of 26.  That makes my heart hurt...it's less than a year older than I am now.  He was so talented and such an amazing singer.  Even from a young age I knew there was something special about Otis's voice.that soft velvety voice.  I can't believe how much he accomplished by 26 and how loved he was and how fast everything was taken away from him while he was taken away from us.  Everyone knows his music and most people love it. (if you don't, there is something seriously wrong with you)  I can't believe he died so young.  If I'm being honest, I called my mom crying today when I found out that Otis died at 26.  It just seems such a tragedy.  I wonder how many other people have shed tears at the great loss of Otis Redding.  I'm left thinking.....what more would he have accomplished if his life wasn't cut short??....musical genius.

P.S. My emotions are very real, but they could also be intensified by the fact that I am PREGNANT!  Who knows.  Haha.
  • I want a snow day!

    Current mood:frustrated
It snowed on Sunday.  Not very much, but there were little flurries.  Dan and I went on a walk and snow started falling on us and hitting our faces.... I stuck my tounge out to try and catch some!!  It all melted as soon as it hit the ground.  It was so beautiful though!  I am starting to get bummed because I don't think we are going to have a good snow this year.  Last year in Charlotte there was one good snow day, but it all melted by the next day.  I REALLY WANT  IT TO SNOW!!!!!  Too bad it's 52 degrees and beautiful and sunny outside!  Poop.  Everyone pray for snow and maybe I'll get my wish!  I didn't move 3,000 miles away to a climate where it gets butt freezing cold just to be cold and not get the pay off of snow!  NOPE!  It better FREAKIN" snow!  That's all I have to say.
  • Maternity clothes etc.

    Current mood:energetic
I think that I am finally getting used to the weather here in North Carolina.  Today it was 43 degrees and I wore a light weight long sleeved shirt and pants and FLIP FLOPS!!!  I remember a day in Cali where it was 45 degrees in November and I thought that I was going to die in a very warm jacket!  I'm glad I'm adjusting.
I went shopping today and got some VERY cute maternity clothes!!  Kohl's has a great selection and there were a lot of things on clearnace.  I even got 2 pairs of jeans that were buy one get one free.  Maternity clothes have come a long way.....now instead of looking like a hippo in a tent, a pregnant woman can look cute like she always does but in larger sized clothes.
So I'm getting the hang of maternity clothing, but don't really know what to do about anything pertaining to the baby.  When am I supposed to start buying nursery furniture?  When is it appropriate to buy baby clothes?  Maybe I'll just wait till April when I find out what the sex is and go from there.  I'm thirsty.....I need water.
P.S.  I'm gonna actually write this down so that I can read it later and either confirm my feelings, or laugh......I feel like I'm having a BOY.  We'll see!
  • Love

    Current mood:peaceful
My hubby and I went to the movies tonight and saw Brokeback Mountain.  Dan didn't much like it, but I thought it was a beautiful movie.  Too often too many things get in the way of love......prejudice, fear, religion.  But love is love.  We should bask in it when we are lucky enough to find it, no matter what.  It's a precious thing to have.
  • My baby

It's amazing to me that people get abortions even in the first trimester and believe that it's not actually a baby!  At nine weeks my baby has a heart that is beating, a formed brain with blood flow to it, even eyelids over it's eyes......and I can see all of these things from the pictures I got at the ultrasound.  I can see my baby, and it's a baby no matter what anyone might like to believe!
  • Pregnancy Part I

    Current mood:hopeful
So, I'm pregnant.  My overall feeling is that I am happy, but it changes from day to day.....hour to hour.  I knew pretty much instantly that I was pregnant because my body was acting really weird, but the actual knowledge didn't come for about 3 weeks.  Let me just say.....some women get a glow and feel at peace......I do not.  I haven't actually gotten sick, but my body feels as though it has been hijacked.  I get nauseas when I don't eat, I get nauseas after I eat, I get light headed doing mundane things like blow drying my hair, I am breaking out on my face and weird red bumps have apperaed on my neck and chest, I am tired ALL THE TIME but funny thing......I can never sleep.  I have to pee usually 2-4 times during the night, my hair has turned brittle, my boobs constantly hurt and I have turned into a moody bitch half of the time.....and I don't even have the energy to care.  Somewhere hidden under all of that, I am really excited to be having a baby.
I go back and forth between being terrified of labor and being mostly okay with it.  I'm not sure if the day time TV shows on A&E and TLC help me to feel better, or make me feel a lot worse.  Watching someone else go through it makes it not seem as bad, but as soon as I imagine myself in their place, I feel like there is no way that I am actually going to be able to get a baby out of me.  No way!  I guess I just have to cross that bridge when I get there and hope that I live through all of my current symptoms.  I mean women have been doing this forever right?  I've also started watching the Adoption Story on TV and depending on how this all ends, that may be what will happen if we want another child!  Haha.
Most people have been telling me that I will make a wonderful mom and most of the time I think that I will, but what if I'm not?  What if I end up sucking at it and my kids end up crack dealing prostitutes?  I don't think that I could deal with that.  I don't know how great I am at living my own life, what am I going to do with a little baby who needs me for everything including guidance and direction?  Will he or she be like me and have to learn by jumping into the fire, or more like Dan who thinks things through and was always a compliant child?  I have so much to learn about and so much to decide.....I seriously need to keep reading my What to Expect book, but I'm just not that into it right now.  Oh well.  We have our first ultrasound tomorrow afternoon and Dan and I will get to see the baby although it will look like a little alien, but I'm excited for that and maybe then I will feel more like there is actually a baby inside me and not a killer alien who wantes me to f eel like crap most of the time!  Haha.   Below is what my baby is up to currently at 8 weeks.  I'll add updates as things progress, and hopefully as time goes by my fear will get less and less and so will my yuckie symptoms!
How your baby's growing: Your baby is now 5/8 of an inch long, about the size of a kidney bean. She's constantly moving and shifting, although you won't be able to feel these womb wiggles for several weeks yet. Her embryonic tail is disappearing, and her eyelids practically cover her eyes. Still slightly webbed, her fingers and toes are growing longer. Her arms have lengthened, too, and her hands are now flexed at the wrist and meet over her heart. Her knee joints have formed, and her feet may be long enough to meet in front of her body. With her trunk straightening out, her head is more erect. Breathing tubes extend from her throat to the branches of her developing lungs. The nerve cells in her brain are also branching out to connect with one another, forming primitive neural pathways. Though you may be daydreaming about your baby as one gender or another, the external genitals still haven't developed enough to reveal whether you're having a boy or a girl.

January 2006

January

Current mood:happy
My best friend Stephanie came to visit me for a week.....from December 28th-January 4th!  It was so much fun.  We didn't really do anything in particular, but just got to spend a lot of great quality time together.  We finally had someone to use our guest room and now it feels so empty without her in it.  We tried very hard to convince her to move in with us.....maybe next year!  I am REALLY excited because while Steph was here she showed me how to use a diffuser (sp?) and we went out and bought me a new hair dryer with super cool attachments including a diffuser......which I must say makes my hair a fabulous huge mess.  If you thought I had curly hair before, wait till you see it diffused!!  Haha.  I also got a new addition to my body......a new tattoo.....on my wrist......it's not huge, or even big, but it's cute and I've wanted it for a while.  I'm gonna get another tattoo to expand the butterfly on my back, but that is going to be a big/painful project, so I'll wait for a while on that.  Check out my pics if you want to see my new tattoo.  It was really fun to have Steph here when I got my tattoo, cause we always seem to be together when we do bodily harm to ourselves.....it's a theme.  She left yesterday and I wish that she didn't.  I liked having her here to spend time with and laugh with.....we always have a good time together!!  So far, January has been a good month and I have a feeling that 2006 is going to be a crazy, wonderful, perfect year!  HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Saturday dancing

I just finished dancing in the guest room with my husband!  We were rocking out to Kelly Clarkson.  Have I mentioned how much I love Dan?  He is so different from any other man that I have met....I'm so glad that he is mine.  He doesn't care what anyone thinks about him, he is super silly and very tender.  What more could a girl ask for?  Plus he spent the whole day buying Christmas presents for ME and it's not even the week of Christmas......now that's love!

November 2005

  • Today is a happy day

    November 16, 2005

    Current mood:content
Today is a happy day.  We finally got our wedding presents shipped to us yesterday and we are so stoked to get them unpacked and start using them!  It's almost like we get to celebrate getting married all over again because we pretty much forgot what we got, and we get to open them again.  I love our dishes and I truly believe that our food will taste better on them.  Now if I could just find enough time to write out thank you notes.  They are time consuming little buggers......but I heard that we have a year to finish them.....is that true?
North Carolina is going to have a huge weather change.  Today it's 79 degrees and tomorrow the high is going to be 50 degrees.  I am excited to start having cold weather, but I wish there was a slower progress from 79 to 50 degrees instead of one day.  Fall is a strange thing here in the South East.  We had the color change on the leaves but it really only lasted a week.  Thank goodness I got some great pictures right at the peak of the color fiesta, but already leaves are dropping and the trees are starting to look bare and it makes me sad.  But at the same time I am seeing leaves collecting on the side of the road and covering pretty much everything.  I used to see movies where a family spends the day raking up leaves in fall and then the kids jump around in the piles.  I wish that I could do that.....but we don't have our own personal collection of leaves since we don't have any big trees in front of our house.  Maybe this time next year I can rake up some leaves and jump around in them when we have our own house!  Hee hee.
The dogs are doing better.  We have been able to leave them in the house for 5 hours at a time without them having accidents or destroying things.  I don't think that the chewing on rugs....or chewing on anything phase is over just yet, but at least they are handling it better.  The total destruction from yesterday was 1 napkin shredded and scattered around the house.  If that's all we have to deal with, then I believe that we are lucky.  Our home itself has some more work to be done, but it's mostly just cosmetic things.  We need to organize and put stuff where it needs to go.  Dan and I are both bad at leaving clutter around and we both want to learn how to stop that habit.  We'll see how it goes.
Thanksgiving is getting very close.  I am starting to get excited about the holidays with every new Christmas comercial that comes on the boob tube.  This will be the first time in 25 years that I will not be spending the holidays with my family.  As of right now I am okay with it, but I have this sneaking feeling that it's gonna make me VERY sad once we get closer.  I know my mom is bummed about it because she tells me so almost every time we talk.  This is all just part of the growing up process.  Our parents had to go through it and start their own life traditions and we have to do the same.  Sometimes I wish there could be an easier arrangement between California and North Carolina.  It's a 3,000 mile distance between the two and I can feel it.  It was nice to be able to spend a weekend with my family and not have to schedule flights and transportation to and from the airport, or take time off work.  I now have that flexibility with Dan's family, but it just isn't the same.  I love them, but it's going to take time for them to feel like my family.  It took 21 years for me to get where I'm at with my own family.  I miss my niece.  We were so close to each other especially while I was living with them, and now I'm so far away.  She doesn't even really  know who I am.  I don't know how I am going to have the kind of relationship that I want with her being so far away and so removed from her life.  I guess this is why so many families live close to each other.  Distance makes everything so much harder.  With everything that I just said, I want to make it clear that I don't regret making the move to North Carolina.  As difficult as it is to be far away from my family and friends in Cali, it would be unbearable to be away from Dan, and since the day we met he has proven to me over and over again that he is my family....and I am his.....I wouldn't give that up for the world.
This was not meant to be a sad blog....it started off with today is a happy day.....and it is.....so my slight meloncholy should be ignored.  All in all I am content.  I wake up every morning in a huge, soft and comfortable bed next to the best person I know.  I am greeted daily with over exuberant undying love from my 2 furry companions.  I have warm clothes to put on when it is cold, and I have flip flops to wear when it is hot.  I have a vehicle to get me from here to there instead of having to take the bus, and I have always been fortunate enough to have a job and earn money.  I have words dancing in my head and the ability to express myself and best of all, I have people in my life who let me express myself to my hearts content.  I am one lucky girl, and on most days......I know it!  I'm going to keep these things in the back of my mind as Thanksgiving gets closer.  It's far too easy for me to lose sight on what is important......the things that I am thankful for.

  • Damn Dogs

    Current mood:aggravated
I feel like evertime I write in here I am moody and bitching about something.  I am gonna try and change that, but it's not going to start today.  I love my dogs.  They are great animals and fun to have around.  Dan and I have had countless hours of entertainment just from watching them do stupid shit......but I tell ya.....sometimes I feel like killing them.  Or leaving them on the side of the road somewhere.  When they are driving me nuts, I often tell them that I am going to give them away to a bad dog food company and have them made into dog food.  I don't think they believe me, casue they continue to aggrivate me.  Neither Tyson nor Henry were very destructive when they were little puppies.  There was one mishap with a shoe....sorry Hannah, and they got to a DVD case and mangled it.....sorry Erin, and they even attempted to eat part of a wall at Dan's parent's house, but it was never a constant issue and mostly just puppy behavior.  Now they are 10 and 11 months and Tyson has decided that he wants to shred things.  It started out with small stuff like toilet paper and paper towels, progressed to his toys that were made with fabric....he would bust open a stuffed toy and we would find white fluffy stuffing all over the house.  Now his new bad behaior has been directed to our rugs.  We bought a large living room rug and a runner that matched a few weeks ago and really loved them.  They were $90.00 off Craigslist which isn't a ton of money, but a good chunk for rugs.  The day after we got them, Tyson chewed on the corner of the runner.  He got yelled at and both rugs got sprayed with bitter apple spray.  Last week, Tyson chewed on the corner of the large rug,....again he got yelled at and the rugs got another coat of bitter apple spray.  This past weekend Dan and I went grocery shopping and when we got home the runner had a large chunk missing fron the side of it.  Again, again, Tyson got yelled at and bitter apple was applied.  Yesterday Tyson did some more damage to the runner in the same place.  We were so mad!!!  I honestly don't know what to do with him.  I know that he is not the smartest dog, but what the heck.....how many times do we need to yell at him for him to get the idea into his stupid head not to chew or shred the rugs.  Our runner is now ruined and in the trash, and I can't bear to imagine our big rug being destroyed.  How can we get him to stop?  My brother mentioned sprinkling cayenne pepper on the perimiter of the rug.  I think that I might try that, but if it doesn't work, Tyson may need a new home, because Dan might kill him otherwise.  Anyone know anyone who wants a mixbreed dog who likes to chew on rugs?  Let me know!  Haha
  • Am I temporary?

    Current mood:hopeful
So, I registered with a temp agency so that they could help me in my search to find a job.  I went down to the office and took a word and excel test and a typing test.  I can officially type 58 words per minute and that is with the fake nails I had on from my wedding (they are now off, but that is a different painful story) which is pretty good for having long nails.  I had no intention of actually taking an temp jobs.....but here I am working as a temp.  I am at a construction company called Yonkers Industries.....does anyone find that a weird name for a company in Cary, North Carolina?  Anway....there is a possibility that there is an accounting position in this company, but they have a lot of catch up work to do before they hire anyone, so here I am doing the worst work ever!  I take boxes filled with hanging file folders and many many many papers, and punch holes in all of the papers, and put them all in 3 ring binders.  There are like 50 boxes full of these things and I can only punch 10 pieces of paper at a time.  SUCK!  I really like the company, and I really like the people here and the fact that they have free sodas and juice in the fridge and crackers and cookies, and muffins and doughnuts.  I would like a job here which is the only reason why I am putting up with this crap work, but the big question that is haunting me is.....am I really just temporary?  After doing all of this shit are they just going to release me back to the temp agency?  I guess I'll just have to wait and see, but damn the papercuts!!!!

  • Pillow Palooza

    Current mood:devious
Some might say that I have gone a little pillow crazy.  The some I am referring to would be my husband.  I decided to recover the pillows that he had on his couch which turned into me totally re-doing them and making them different pillows.  Then I felt the need to add some accent pillows.  They matched the large back pillows with the same fabric and all.  Too much of the same color, so I went back to the fabric store and bought a very masculine (I'm lying) patterned fabric to make some additional accent pillows to compliment the colors of the couch and the other pillows.  Well, I had some scraps of each fabric left over so I sewed them together and ended up making a combo pillow.  Have I gone too far with the pillows?  Are they not comfortable?  Do they not serve a purpose for that which needs to be pillow lain?  I think not.  Does it matter that I yell at Dan anytime he tries to actually use any of the pillows as pillows?  Has anyone ever heard of decorative pillows?  I think that I am going pillow crazy.....I need a job.
P.S. I love you Dan.....and you can use the pillows whenever you want.....just don't mess them up!  Haha.

  • Job hunt....job hunt.....job hunt

    Current mood:aggravated

Looking for a job sucks.  I hate playing games....I hate the negotiations that take place.  I just want jobs to have sticker prices on them like clothes in a department store.  There is no haggling....the price is what it says.  Just tell me what you want to pay for a certain position and I'll tell you whether I am willing to work for that.  My husband likes to haggle, he'll try to get money knocked off the price of a pack of cigarettes or a yard of fabric at the fabric store, but not me.... I can't stomach it.  I wish that I were independently wealthy from some kind of random but totally useful invention like the swiffer.  Then I could do whatever I wanted.....I could find a fun and fulfilling job that paid next to nothing and it wouldn't matter.  Or I could volunteer all the time and give back to the community and not worry that my dogs were going to go without bones or chew toys.  I need a job.

  • I'm bored

I am supposed to be doing something but I'm not sure what it is.  There is so much crap lying around the house, boxes, packing paper.....it's overwhelming.  I wish that someone could unpack and clean everything up and I could just come home from running errands and it would all be done and our house would be livable.  I'm sick of the carpets being disgusting with doggie crumbs and crap that is tracked in from outside, but there are too many boxes and no room to vacuum.  I know that I need to be productive, but it's too much.  Maybe I'll put the videos away.  That's a start.
