Our poopy weekend (warning: explicit material inside *poop*)

Phew, what a weekend. We had absolutely nothing planned for the past 3 days and yet here I am totally exhausted and looking forward to the next couple of days off with the hubbs home. I guess it's normal for life to get super chaotic whilst potty training. And it has been....chaotic! We have attempted potty training numerous times in the past year and it never worked. I always said that she wasn't ready, it wasn't the right time, and I was RIGHT! This time is proving to be the right time and it has been SO much easier. There have been no power struggles, no screaming fits, hardly any accidents and this time around she is so motivated! I've always heard people say that when they're ready, they're ready and it just happens but when they're not ready it's pretty pointless to try and force it on them. I could not agree more. I don't really know what the difference is this time, but Maddie's attitude is so much better, she has been super successful and it's working. Hallelujah!!! I always thought that pull ups were useless and up until this go around I always put Maddie in underwear and by the end of the day I was furious from having to clean pee off the floor, pee off the carpet, pee off clothes all day long. This time I went out and bought some pulls ups because she has to wear them at school until she is consistently going on the potty. I told her they were her new underwear....she thought they were cool and has treated them like big girl underwear instead of a diaper. Maddie is really motivated by the treasure box at preschool so I decided to make one of our own that she could pick a prize out of every time she went potty. I have a mixture of dollar store and big ticket items and of course candy....guess what she picks the most? Yep, the candy! She has been going pee pee on the potty 2-3 times a day for the past 3 days and today, she not only peed on the potty 4 times, (possibly 5 but my days are running together) but she also went poop! I can not believe how smoothly this is going. Her first day in the 3 year old class is Tuesday and I think it is only going to motivate her even more to watch all the other kids use the toilet! What a big girl Maddie is becoming! I think as long as we stay consistent we'll have a potty trained kid in no time! Go, Maddie Go!
