cold day at the park

It has been so cold here. Today the high is 28 degrees and while I was getting the girls loaded in the car to meet Dan for lunch I could see my breath in the air....that usually only happens at night. I think Dan told me that the temps we are having this week are record lows and it was either since 5 years ago, or since like the 80's.....I probably should have been paying better attention. lol We've been able to get out of the house for little pieces of time, but its been a long time since we've made the trek to our favorite park in Raleigh because it has been SO cold. But yesterday it was sunny and beautiful although of course....cold, so we decided to head over to the park after picking Maddie up from preschool. We had a nice time although it was a bummer that the carousel and train we not operating. They shut down at 1:00 and we missed it by like 40 minutes. Disapointment. But, Maddie got over it very easily and we had fun going on slides and swinging. Its kinda hard to do too much when its so cold outside that you have to bundle up to the point where its hard to move. Poor Charlotte, good thing she isn't mobile yet because she was VERY bundled. I don't think we'll be back outside much this weekend since it is so stinkin' cold but I'm glad they got to enjoy some fresh air yesterday!!
