wokking

I only have 2 cabinets in my kitchen that are off limits to the kids. One is directly under the sink and houses all of our cleaning supplies and the other is the island cabinet which houses all of our snacky type items. Both have baby locks on them to keep the monkeys out. The rest of the kitchen is pretty much fair game. Yes, it gets annoying sometimes to have to put all of my pots and pans away, but the fun that Maddie and now Charlotte get from playing with them is priceless. I try to have as little as possible off limits in my house so that my kids can enjoy themselves less supervised and not constantly be in trouble for getting into things they shouldn't. Thus far it's worked for us. And what I've discovered is that when my kids are allowed to get the pots and pans out, or scatter the plastic ware all over the kitchen the phase ends sooner. They do it.....over and over again, but then it gets old and they stop doing it and move onto something else. Charlotte, welcome to my kitchen. Future Asian cuisine cook?

She's adorable and that outfit is adorable!! We've started having to direct Declan away from cabinets, interestingly enough, he prefers the bathroom cabinets rather than the kitchen. We're trying the opposite of what you're doing in the kitchen though: he gets one cabinet (tupperware) to play with and that's it. But like I said, he doesn't really care much for the kitchen anyway. I like your idea better.....we'll have to figure it out I guess.

I'm glad you had a good day yesterday for your birthday. I'm hearing more friends say it's not that exciting, but I still get really excited for mine. If we lived closer, I totally would have made you get a babysitter and we would have gone out. It's a day to celebrate you, not just your age. That's my opinion at least! :)
