Memorial day birthday celebration

Charlotte got to have two mini birthday celebrations two weekends in a row! Twice the cake!! I'm sure that there will come a day when my children want parties where their friends come over and play games and have goody bags but for now I just don't find it to be necessary so I just don't do it. Family and close friends getting together to eat good food, scarf too much cake and just spend time together is all a little kid needs to celebrate their life. Charlotte's first birthday celebration was at home while my mom was visiting, we had cake and a few presents. Her second birthday extravaganza was on Memorial day and Dan's family all got together at Jordan Lake for a BBQ picnic. We grilled, the kids played in the lake, there were bubbles involved and we ate lot's-o-food.....oh, and cake! Charlotte had a Dora cake which she picked out on her own and she enjoyed it very much. It's hard for me to believe that Charlotte is already two years old, but in a lot of ways she seems a lot older than that. In the last few weeks we have gotten a good glimpse of the terrible two fun that is in store for us. Hopefully we make it through this developmentally eventful year intact and happy! :o) Birthday festivities are over for 2 and 1/2 months until Maddie's 4th and I'm going to enjoy the downtime and lack of sugary frosting until then!
