4th of July

I grew up doing fireworks at home. We would get together with our neighbors and set fireworks off in the street near our house. My favorites were always the stink bomb ones.....the little kids would run around in the smoke. Since having kids we've talked about going somewhere and watching big fireworks, but they always happen so late, and parking is always a nightmare and it just never seems worth it. So, every year we've grilled at home, eaten yummy traditional 4th of July food and done our own firework show in our front yard. Yesterday we ate BBQ chicken, corn on the cobb, my grandma's potato salad and yummy hawaiian rolls. When it got dark we brought lawn chairs out to our driveway and daddy set fireworks off and we played with sparklers. The girls had a really good time although Maddie would have liked to set of a million fireworks and we just didn't have nearly that many! :o) Sometime in the next few years we're gonna have to take them to a big ol' fireworks show so they can see the magic of big colorful explosions. We had a great 4th of July and I hope all my friends and family did as well!
